Extremely worn out Queen Victoria Silver coin.

Today I found my first old coin. It is extremely worn out, you can barely make out the feature of queen Victoria, can't make out the exact date but anywhere from 1837-1901 as I did my research on the net.

Good find ! The circles on the back are a counterstamp I guess . I'm not aware of a Victorian silver with that design element .

I would guess a water find? If you give its size maybe we can help with better ID I don't know of Canadian or British coins with such a design at the back, it was certainly added later. Nice find!

I found it on the beach near the water and it's about the size of a dime.

I would guess a Canadian dime than. Could be Newfoundland. The dark patina made me think water find. I usually clean them by gentle electrolysis (aluminum foil, baking soda, boiling water)

Smaller chance but also possible New Brunswick! [emoji2][emoji106]

My local coin shop said British Sixpence.

Than it's larger than a dime and thicker. It does have a thicker border edge as you would find on a dime. But without the measurements and better pic it's hard to say for sure.

Sorry he’s wrong. I can see the “gratia regina” above hear head that doesn’t match a six pence. The “regina” is shortened to “REG.” and in a different spot on a six pence for example. Most likely a canadian vicky id say! [emoji2][emoji106]

Also looked at the New Brunswick and Newfoundland silver dime types and they are different as well. For sure a canadian vicky dime. I think i can almost see where the c in canada is on his coin also but very very faint! [emoji2][emoji106]
