I think the only common parts to the F-4 and the F-75 are the coil and attachment bolts. The F-75 hardware is descended from the Teknetics T-2 and the software/circuits are all new.

From what I have understand, a capacitor used in the F4s circuit has the potential for failing. FT/Fisher decided to recall the detectors and fix the problem. I seen a lot of computer companies have these problems and they usually try hiding it. Think its good that they took it upon themselves to pull the detectors back in and fix the problem. It has to be pretty expensive for them to ship them back in and them ship new ones out.
