Very good. Mine seems to be good. Using the Fisher 10" stock coil, 50, 10, -3, a silver quarter looks good at maybe 7 inches.

Cranking gain up to 80 gets about 8 inches.

11DD coil adds an inch or 2.

Mine's the older push in connector model.

Just got back my F75 from upgrade, I was remembering wrong how the F5 was. I thought it was better.

Thank you!

I had the older F5 with push in connector for 6 years. When I went to sell it, I found out I had one of the early ones that didn't get the upgrade. It supposedly wouldn't ID a silver dollar and a ID issue. I contacted FTP and they sent me a shipping label, did the upgrade and sent it on to the buyer, plus sent me a free Fisher T-Shirt and coffee cup. My Version was 01 and I think the upgrade was version 03. Might want to check. You have to hold down one of the buttons when you turn it on, but cannot remember which one to see the version number. FTP=great customer service in my case.

Thanks.

You hold down the pinpointer chicklet while turning it on. You'll see your version in the lower left. It will be 61, 62, or 63. 61 had some issues, I have 61.

I'll ask Fisher my options.

I'm assuming it's not going to increase depth.

I don't know. I know that the ID wraps around and you cannot ID a silver dollar. After 99 it starts at 1 again. A silver dollar IDs as 2 or 3, iron range or may not even show up (according to some on another forum). Mike at FTP told me I would notice other improvements as well (going up 2 upgrades). Since I wasn't getting it back, I never asked of the "improvements".

Worth a shot. I'll ask tomorrow and see where it goes. It's a used one I picked up, ergonomics just bad for me.

But I like to shake off the dust every once in a while.
