Fading pinpointing signals

I have noticed lately that when pinpointing and there are multiple good targets my pinpointing sound seems to fade out. Is this normal (MXT)? Yesterday I found a dime and 2 pennies within 2" of each other. While attempting to pinpoint the above mentioned "thing" would occur .

when you pinpoint with the MXT make sure you are well off to the side of the object you are trying to pinpoint, before you pull the trigger, then sweep into the objects. if I pull the trigger too close to the object than the signal "fades". could this be whats happening?
