Got out for a few hours yesterday at a Fairgrounds that I've been hunting now for a year.
Unfortunately I have only time to hunt a few hours or so each week but this place has
yielded more Seated and Barber than I have ever found before. First photo below is the goodies
I found yesterday. The 1890 seated along with a couple Indian Heads not counting all the clad and
junk I usually dig hoping for some gold to put in my pouch.

Nice Duggr!
Wish I had a site like that close to home.
I just want one seated...just one.
Until, then I will keep on...keepin` on.

great looking Natives

Good old coins there ! I too would love to have a sweet spot like that (who wouldn't ?)

Awesome scores. :occasion14: My local fairgrounds has been modified so much with excavation over the years and a thick layer of pea gravel that I have not found anything older than a 1940's wheat penny.

CoilFisher,

Try to Find a County History Book for your area.
That's how I came across this Fairgrounds. This
wasn't even the County Fairgrounds either!
I posted some photos on a social page of the coins
I found there and one guy replied back that he couldn't
believe I found all that as the guy who hunted the place in the 70's
sucked up Mason Jar's full of silver and Jewelry. He didn't think anything
was left as that place was hit hard when detectors first came out. I got to
thinking about what he said and came to realize that most (90%) of the
old coins I recovered were 8+ in the ground. Most likely out of the reach of
most detectors back then. I think my Minelab Etrac was the first FBS detector there
and it definitely brought up the old goodies.

Most of the area at the fairgrounds I hunt has changed so much it's a waste of time. I just find some little
Hot Spots here and there once in a while. I almost gave up hope one time then out pops 4 seated and some barber and
Indians....
