farm relics

Pictured is the results of about 4 hours of digging on an old upstate South Carolina farm. I am learning to use a used to me White's XLT...still much to learn. The curved piece was about 14" down & under a about 1" root which I did not want to cut or break, so I had to excavate all around the piece & wiggle it out from under the root.
I did not show the trash .....cans etc. The axe head is broken on one side.

More farm relics found yesterday...if it wasn't for iron I would not get to dig at all. No modern bottle caps, aluminum & no coins. Pleasant, out of the way place to dig & enjoyed myself.

Nice def, farm relics . Do you hunt using the factory Relic mode? It seems there should be SOME BRASS , Copper or other non iron objects in that ground , unless it's been hunted hard before but don't give up on that place esp, if you find it peaceful. Good luck .....Davers

Davers..thank you for your comments....I was actually hunting in factory coin mode & the XLT sounded off on the iron...I guess because it was so big. I dig al l the solid steady signals. I have not done a very thorough search of the site to date, so there could be more diverse metals that I have not found yet.

Looks like you got a couple of pieces of good iron there. I would keep hunting it just for the possibility of more good iron.

Some relics you can find by ear...just listen for that rust sound...

stefen, I think you are right to some degree, my luck has been more likely to stumble oven old iron in tall grass.
