Found this on Sunday. Not sure what it is, but it’s pretty cool!

Part of a gate hinge.

Yours is broken, but here is an example.an-old-weathered-wood-gate-post-with-a-rust-pintle-pin-d9pf7k.webp

Awesome! Thank you!!

It looks hand forged so it's pretty old. Can't tell from the picture but I have one similar that has chisel marks on the edges to help hold it in the wood.

I will have to clean it up a bit and check for chisel marks.

Did you get hooked up with an electrolysis set up? Or are you going to try a different method?

Not hooked up yet. I could give electrolysis a try. Not sure the best way to go about it.

It's not a high value item so if it where mine, I'd just nock some of the heavy rust off with a small hammer, then wire brush it. Preferably on a wire wheel on a bench grinder.

I vote you help me pressure Mr. WD to get mine hooked up so that we can practice on this stuff before we find something really cool! LOL!

Relic nut knows his stuff. So if you're anxious to get it cleaned up go that route.

Looks like a harrow tooth to me but cold be something else. Good luck.
