I searched trashy barn site for several hours with the deus 2 and tekkna program on Sunday and had a lot of iron chatter and found a lot of bolts and nails and iron scraps. When I ran out of time i switched to the fast program and walked back across the site towards the car, the iron chatter disappeared and I got several screaming signals and dug actual relics… today I had about 30 mins of daylight and decided to try the fast program around my house which is also trashy in areas. I have hit it pretty hard with other programs but fast program didn’t disappoint, found a couple old wrenches a 66’ dime, an Indian head penny from 190…1?7? And I also got a very high signal on whatever the oval deal was. I think fast may be my go to program in trashy areas although I did notice it still picked up foil and aluminum trash.

You did well in the other program 👏
Part of a cufflink?

Though you have to listen to the sounds in the Tekkna program.
After listening closely you can make out the iron grunt on either side of the high tone.

Another way is to:
Swing back over twice on the high and it will either grunt iron or stay true.
Reactivity is also a factor in iron laden sites.
They say 3, but I use 0-3 depending on site, moisture, iron.
Granted I get fooled occasionally, and certain iron gives a false impression on what it should be.
Holes in iron, some bent sq. nails. Spoon bowls will be another.
Noisy-Yes
Productive-Yes
For everyone-No

(I have detected with zero discrimination for 15 yrs mostly) So I'm use to hearing lots of noise.

not saying I don’t like tekkna I was noticing what you were saying about getting a high tone and an iron grunt and sometimes I’d get a messy signal and those were scraps of iron or links from a chain drive, the thing I liked about the fast is it seems to quiet the nails and scrap and sniff out the other stuff. Tekkna makes me think of an old Nintendo game when I’m on a messy site. I haven’t used the deus enough to start adjusting settings manually maybe boost the recovery on tekkna? For now I am starting to get a sense of vdi and tones. i did notice fast you can’t rely on tone you have to watch vdi too… im also wondering if the depth is as good as tekkna.

The one deal rang up at 95 which is usually silver but I’m guessing chrome? Here’s one with a ruler for scale

cool finds and good job on learning your machine, it has a lot to tell you

I definitely like the versatility it’s kind of like having several new machines at once, so longer learning curve but it’s already proven its capability . I had gone over that same area with a few other programs and I guess the wrenches sounded like more trash before… the Indian head was in a different part of the yard, no trash and it was a very subtle signal almost had to push the coil against the ground to sound sure, but it wasn’t as deep as i thought it might be only 3-4” that’s why I’m not sure about the depth on fast vs other programs.

I have found the tekkna program will false A LOT on the first swing. But a couple more swings over the target usually confirms if it's iron or not. But it's kind of annoying getting your hopes up with a great squeaky high tone then you immediately realize with another swing that it's iron.

Great finds !
The Indian looks like a 1903 from here.
