I got out on Father's Day morning to 2 of my older 'standby sites'. The fields are still pretty wet here in Southern Ontario, so with planting being at least a month behind I've had the opportunity to revisit a number of sites that I've hit in years past. My first site was one I first detected in the fall of 2014. This site produced the British military badge I currently use as my avatar. In fact, it produced 6 of these martingales and almost 200 British military knapsack buckles. The second site was one I detected back in 2015, it operated as a dairy farm from 1865 until the 1930s. The finds weren't anything spectacular, it was just nice to be out detecting on a sunny Sunday morning.

Finds from the first site, was another British military knapsack buckle, this c1840 buckle was made by the Issac Campbell Co. in London, England. An aluminum c1969, French/English token commemorating the Apollo 11 Moon Landing, the iron castor and the oil lamp collar. At the old dairy farm site, I found the 'Crown' blue glass preserve jar lid and the misc glass fragments.

Hope everyone had a great Father's Day and thanks very much for looking!
Dave

Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Some great finds there Dave. The Apollo token seems so out of place and that makes it very interesting to me.

Thank you Dallas.
I haven't researched the token yet, I was surprised to see that it was a 'bilingual token'... so maybe it was Made in Canada? :icon_scratch:
I'll probably tumble it with polished pebbles to clean off the corrosion some.

Thanks Professor, it was definitely a surprise to find it in a farm field. :laughing7:

I love finding these old Crown preserve jar lids, mainly because they might never be found if the zinc lid isn't in the same area.
Dave

That is a pretty place to hunt.

Thanks very much for the info DTC.
At least now I know that it's not even worth .10c due to the condition. :laughing7:

Thank you for your post Hughett.
I've often found myself lost in thought while detecting here over the years.
This is a War of 1812 Land Grant site given to two brothers from Upstate New York who served in the British Military.

It's been my favourite go-to site for the past five years... I've probably detected here 40+ times.
Dave

PS. Here are a few pics of some of my other finds from this site since I first hunted here in 2014.

It might only be worth $0.10 to some shmoe sitting in a chair collecting coins but it would still be priceless to most of us here if we had dug it and suspect strongly you fall in that category.

Consider the meaning of that coin and others like it all over the world made by countries which had little or nothing to do with this landing. Not because they were celebrating a US achievement (sure it was that) but because they were celebrating a HUMAN achievement. My take anyway...

Hi, wow nice finds. Congrats:icon_thumleft: Love the token. Also a very nice display of your finds:icon_thumleft:

Thanks very much Brendan.
Most of my finds are displayed on my dresser, as my wife doesn't like seeing my 'junk' lying around the house.

And by 'junk' I mean my finds... not my junk. :laughing7:
