they can because if they ship the coin out the armored service can charge an excess weight or coin fee.

Theres ways around it tho
check other branches
check out a business account, it has a fee but usually free coin processing, so depending on how much you would pay etc.
open accounts at other banks, spread out your dumps

it depends on your town I guess, in Los Angeles the options are pretty much endless.
 

Yeah i live in alaska so my options are endless in anchorage but i live in wasilla a small town.
 

Next time you are in the bank, sit down with the honcho who makes those decisions. Have them explain what is up as far as fees go. From what I understand they must post a notice in their bank informing all their customers of a change in policy. If you are dumping a ton, you might have come to the end of the freebie road. If it is a small amount, you should be able to negotiate a compromise. Jim

Just get the cash back and go deposit at another branch.
