Welcome to the forum, your find looks like a cedar tree , the heart of the tree takes many many years to rot but the soft outer wood often rots away in a couple of years . the woods here are full of it. I see no value , but people have bought stranger things.
saw it in half , I bet it's red inside.

Around here certain kinds of pine will do that.We call them pine knots and they,re full of resin.Burns like who flung the chunk and a little sliver will start a fire for you in no time!Some folks clean and polish them up into really pretty stuff.like ticndig said cut into it and if it,s red it,s cedar.if not it,s pine.
