My cousin and I got out to our spot today in Winchester today before we get dumped on from this east coast storm. Saying anywhere from 8-14 inches. You wouldn't have known it from the beautiful day we had. Maybe the temps will stay up and we won't get the snow! Anyway, I dug a few bullets today. Got me some fired burnsides, couple spencers and a nice little pistol bullet. Not sure on the caliber...maybe a .38 .cal. Got a tombac button and was fooled when I dug the 1967 washington quarter. Saw the Liberty at the top and just could see the top of his head...thought I had a bust half cent for sure! Dang modern coins out in the middle of these fields! lol Can anyone tell me what the 3 round pieces of lead are with the holes through them? When I first found one almost 2 years ago I thought they were the bottom part to cleaner bullets, but I know they are too small for that. I find them in CW camps a lot. And the burnside I'm holding is a great example of the deterioration of our history. Our generation is pretty lucky with the relics, but who knows about our future generations. This is why our hobby is so important to preserving our past. I will never understand the reasons on "preserving a historical site" by leaving the stuff IN THE GROUND! Oh well...get what we can, I guess. Thanks for looking guys and HH!
