Sory I should have included that. I'm in Ohio

I'd say he nailed it.

Welcome aboard! You better keep hitting that field.

Welcome to tnet. Shame it wasn't finished but its a good start. Should be a quarry site near by. If you find that the camp site will be close then the better finds can be found. Good Luck

What does the end to the right look like? It looks to me to be a classic Flint Celt from Ohio. Most of these are really rough but will show some use wear on the blade edge(the end to the right in the 2nd pic).

I will definitely continue to hunt the field. I've found some nice pieces over the past few years. This summer I found a nice mortar. My grandpa found some beautiful flint ridge flint worked and the cores. The only problem is that it is tilled every other year.

That is a nice find. Good luck on future hunts.

great save! welcome ;) and happy hunting- Yakker

That's how they do the fields here also. Plow every other but this spring coming up is the plow year for me. Any creeks near the field? The rains if any is always good for creeks and hills in the field.

Actually there's a run right next to it that my grandpa used to tap into to irrigate. Last summer I built a sift box to take down to the banks but didn't get a chance to use it. I've already spied a couple bends and banks that i'm going to take a few days on this coming summer.

Now that is something to look forward to! Nice find.

Sounds like a plan. I just hit the gravel bars after every rain they change if you get enough rain.

Nice find, look forward to seeing more
