Hi again:hello:

Got out there at high tide and hunted for 2 hrs.

In the first 15 minutes at the high tide line, I retrieved the 20" 925 ITALY silver chain.

This is how it came down:

Sauntering along parallel to the shore line, I heard the solid mid-high tone, and started digging; it was an elusive item and I had to dig about 10 " down before I was able to get what was about a 7" chain which I thought to be a bracelet.

I rechecked the hole, and the same strong mid-tone was still heard...dug some more down to about 14"
Lo and Behold!...there in my scoop was another larger length portion of the chain :headbang:

Total : 20"

After that find, it was just a few pieces of junk( most not included in pics)

I do like the "Blob top" bottle head found in wet sand on the slope: too bad there was not much left to the bottle.

Here's a couple of pics

Thanks for looking

Lorraine

WOW! That is a really nice chain,Lorraine.Congratulations on a beautiful find.

Hi Lorraine, can I asked how you identified the necklace? I think I found the same one last week, it also says 925 Italy on it. It also has a symbol stamped in it, but I don't know what it is.

Mine is 24", one side has like a crinkle pattern on it.

Anyhow, nice find.

I love finding chains...that's a nice one...love how that blob top has been turned into sea glass...congrats on some great finds.

Nice chunk of silver, next one you find will be gold!

Hi Pennypacker,

I know the "FIGARO" style name because I've seen posts of this style chain identified as such.

I'm not sure, I I don't think that is the name of the jeweler...it's just a style name, but I could be wrong.

My find also has a stamping on the reverse of the "ITALY 925"...I'm attaching a pic of it.

Let me know if the symbol on mine is the same as yours ( if you have time to post it)

Also here is a link to FIGARO chains:

That's when silver counts 16 plus grams! Nice!

I like it! Nice recovery! Always counts to recheck that hole

Thanks for the information, here is a picture of mine.

The white balance is a little off, it's actually pretty clean.

You are correct, it is a style of necklace, not a brand.

From Figaro chain - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Figaro is a popular gold or silver link chain design that incorporates a pattern of 2 or 3 small circular links with 1 elongated oval link. The most notable figaro chains are manufactured in Italy. They are usually worn by men and are often adorned with pendants such as crosses and medallions.

These chains were very popular in the mid to late 1990s and early 2000s."

"The name of the chain was widely used by Italian chainmakers inspired by the operas The Barber of Seville (by Gioachino Rossini) and The Marriage of Figaro (by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart). These operas were based on the plays The Barber of Seville (play) and The Marriage of Figaro (play) by Pierre Beaumarchais."

Thanks!

I found this pendant about 150' away last year, after reading the Wikipedia article it seems it may be possible that they go together.

It may have been launched to that location from a lawnmower.
