We had lots of rain the last two weeks and i couldn't sit at home longer. Went out for a couple hours on two roman sites. One is pretty much hunted out but on high ground with less mud. Nothing left than a couple bullets, casings and some lead. The second site was freshly harvested sugar beets. :s Muddy as hell. I got some coins, none of them good, usual lead, driving band fragments, musket balls... Find of the day was an roman AS in better than average condition. Had a talk to the farmer too, very nice guy. His father picked up lots of pottery there years ago, some of this pottery is shown in a local museum.

That's a nice one Westfront, there still must be things to find there if that one stayed hidden.:icon_thumleft:

Good coin & I know about the sticky clay, Dad & I were in the rain yesterday!

cool roman coin

Dads thoughts:
I think the coin Westfront has found is most likely an AS of Vespasian with a FELICITAS PVBLICA reverse which is normally Felicitas stood left holding Caduceus and a Cornucopiae – it could also be a Titus as his bust is also similar when worn down. Anyway, coin would seem around 70-80AD

Your Dad is simply amazing! Thanks a lot! I knew he would be able to ident with that reverse. And very early for the site i detected. Now i can hope for a good denarius!

I'd say a good day, mud or not. Way to go......again Lu!

Holly Molly, that's an old one for sure. Seams to be in really good shape despite the age of it. Congrats.
