Some nice gold pickers found here on day 4, the last day of my recent gold prospecting trip to Wanlockhead, Scotland.
Every pan after sluicing a bucket of material had shows of gold which is always nice to see including a few nice sized pickers. I worked the hole for about 10-11 hours total before heading back off home and I did my best to recover as much material as I could with very little remaining after I finished. I used my underwater viewer to locate large rocks I couldn`t suck up with my manual gold pump to get to the gravels beneath, then using a garden weed scraper I got into and cleared out as many of the cracks and crevices I could get at, moving the material into an area I could then get to with the manual gold pump. Once I had finished, I filled the hole back in with a pile of tailings I had piled up along with large boulders to level the hole off.
Not a record breaking amount of gold recovered but not a bad amount for the day and it was a lot more than I found in the first 2 days gold prospecting a different stream so deciding to move ground was a very good idea.

That second spot looked real good ...nice chunky pieces in it ..I suggest that spot gets dug completely out down to bedrock across the whole face of that little waterfall, even using a pry bar to split the bedrock cracks. I've been working a similar looking spot and it still gives colour in spots I don't expect there to be anything.

if I was local to the area I prospect in, I would have been back and continued the hole until it had nothing left to give but it`s a 3 hour drive to get there and dark nights are here so I don`t know when I`ll get back, I hope for 1 more trip this year but Scotland in winter can be brutally cold at times so it might have to wait until next year and hope no-one else plunders the hole in the meantime lol

I love it when a plan-through much hard work-comes through-kudos-John :icon_thumright:
