I did a quick 1 hour hunt after work at copper hill. I didnt feel much like playing in the thick iron so I ventured away from one of the sites and found a really toasted Farthing in one area and in another only my second Barber quarter ever:headbang:. Found my other one January 2016. Ive found lots of Barber dimes and even a half but the quarters have been tough to find.

sweet! congrats. still on my bucket list

Nice! Gotta love that silver.

Damn Toasted “another”!!! That’s a white whale of mine I can’t find that sucka. Congratulations on something I just can’t seem to get. Drives me nuts I got the half and dime but not that damn quarter! Lol

She still looks darn good!! Nice finds! :icon_thumleft:

Good hunt, wtg on breaking the Barber drought and nice farthing, congratulations

Nice finds indeed!

Sweet!!! Congrats!!!

You’re still rocking that site, a couple more great coins. Congrats!

Nice find. The Barber Quarter was one of my elusive coins also. After I finally found the first one, they seemed to jump out of the ground at me.

Nice job on removing just enough tarnish to make it not look cleaned. Lemon juice?
Great coin!

Great coin!

Thanks. I hate over cleaning old silver coins but most of them come out pretty tarnished especially in my fields. Ill put them in some aluminum foil, add some spit or sometimes hot salty water and youve got a very mild form of electrolysis. I then just lightly rub the coin with my finger or a pencil eraser till I like the look. Few of them will ever be worth much as they almost always have scratches/gouges from the plow.

Toasted,
Allow me to digress with a quick story: My friend who has played golf for 40 plus years without ever getting a hole in one, took his wife out to teach her the game.
On her 8th round of golf she scored a hole in one. Her comment: FINALLY !! My friend kept his comments to himself.
Don.....

toasted, it's hard to believe Barber quarters are hard for you to find... with so many Spanish cobs, real, bust dime, gold coin, love token... ect., ect….
I just found my 30th Barber quarter today... but, I have no cobs, bust coins, gold coins or love tokens... in my 30 years of detecting... Your going to find at least 3 more barber quarters this year... Good Luck my friend.. Basssmann

Nice looking Barber find, congrats! :occasion14:

Neat finds! That quarter is great, I love finding those. Haven't seen one yet this year, hopefully soon!

That barber quarter cleaned up quite well! The farthing... identifiable is always a good thing. The halfpennies are pretty common where I am but the farthings are pretty elusive. Nice finds!

Thanks. Farthings are not a common find at all on colonial sites. Ive only had one other site produce them. Probably misidentified as buttons often when toasted though
