Finally broke into the 1800's

Made another trip to Norfolk today. Once again it pays off. Finally broke into the 1800's with a 18?? V nickel. Also found a 1926 standing liberty quarter, 1903 barber dime, a190? V nickel, a 1937 merc and what I think is a 1997 Russian coin. Awesome day! Also saw a cruise ship leaving. SLQ looks great. If you're set up to find nickels good things will come. Tony

Starting to find the nickels. Use to ignore the 53 tones on my AT pro. Wonder how my I passed up.

Wow that's a cool slq, wonder what made it dark

It's the soil. It floods with salt water some times. It will clean up though

That quarter isn't to shabby!!! Very nice digs.

That quarter has some great detail, and congrats on getting into the 1800's! Does the 1903 barber have a mintmark? Hopefully an 's'.

I found on my AT last year if it was a solid 52-53 in two directions 99.9% of the time it was a nickel . If it bounced around much between 50-55 it was a 50/50 shot nickel or crap

Looks like a fun hunt there Jason, congrats :occasion14:

Thank you, as for the mint mark on the barber I am going to have to check that. Will let you know.

Even in G4 she'd be worth $84...good luck!

No mint mark, but that's ok, I don't sell. I do it because I love old coins

Oh well, still a nice silver dime for sure! When ever I see someone post an '03 barber dime I ask about the mintmark because my best ever coin find is an '03 's'.

I have never sold anything I have found either, I couldn't part with my finds just for money!

I know, I can't part with any coins either. My son can sell them one day. Now I don't know what I will do if I find a really rare coin. That is a problem I would love to have.

Wow 6 old coins in 1 hunt, Congrats. Welcome to the 1800's club:thumbsup:

Definitly Russian. It says Bank Russia on the top and 5 rubles on the bottom. The Russian word for 5 is pyat, only it's spelled in Cyrillic characters. The Russian for rubles is rublee, plural of ruble.

great finds congrats

God I love those standing Liberty quarters. Still haven't found one yet. Great finds. Hey what'd you clean those with? They came out great.
