So wow, it really hasn't been that great lately but just when I passed my year mark for a stainless steel find one pops into my scoop on a freshwater hunt.
Cool thing was that it was my first target. Kind of a big one. No markings inside and no corrosion I figure its stainless.
Also found a little aluminum frog so that's off my bucket list, too.
Also a big musket ball and looks like nickels outnumbered the rest of the coins.
HH, folks

That's a nice "Biggie", donkarlos

I agree with sandnut...test it for white gold

Lo

Nice scoopins there!
Theres so many ring materials now, finally figured out that my "Peace" ring was Cobalt. Good luck on the ring test!

Thats a stainless chunker. Nice.

Does not look like stainless to me. Test that baby.

My gut feeling was stainless because it had that smooth inside and sort of a brushed look outside. But, I appreciate all the different ideas and will probably use it all as a learning experience. I don't have any acid test kits, etc so I'll probably look into it.
I also wonder about the lack of a hallmark on the inside because I doubt it is very old. Another stainless I have has no markings. .. I do like the ring regardless. .

I paid 14.00 for a test kit on ebay. Went smooth

Oh yeah..test kit is ordered. Gold, silver and platinum.

Update: well, I can't say it tested positive for stainless steel since there isn't an acid for it, but then again it didn't react to platinum or gold. Probably stainless it is.
