got permission to search a farmers field last weekend. 15 minutes into it I pull up this, then nothing for the next hour or so. didnt have time to hunt the entire field.

had it been whole, would have been pretty remarkable. also found a cantalope size piece of chert that has been worked...

Broke ones can sometimes tell more of a story. Way to go! Looks like it was pretty well made.
 
Afternoon,

Cant be 100%, but it appears that point was damaged from heat. It probably found its way into a firepit at one time or another. Fire causes spalls to break off points at various places. No doubt if there is one point there...or part of a point in this case, there ARE more.

Keep looking.

thanks everyone, and i would love to go back to the site. kind of a drive to middle of nowhere GA, but i'll try to work it in.

That side pock pit is a sure sign of heat, not sure about the tip though - although highly probable (unless it's impact and the pock was from cooking it in the meat). I have found isolated finds where there really isn't anything else. However, for the most part, I agree that usually when you find one artifact, you'll find more.
