Finally got out detecting today, it was the first time in months and was mainly just to make sure my gear still worked right. I hit the first spot I ever detected and the reason I started detecting, my grandpops yard. I started finding old bottles and coins randomly digging there when I was a kid working in the yard with with grandpop and over the years found tons of other things with detectors. Today I spent like 30min detecting it, ive hit it plenty of times before with just about every brand of detector. I managed to pull a Wheatie, half a locket, and a modern dime, along with some trash, not great but it might be the last time I detect it since my grandpop died unexpectedly a few months ago and its just not the same detecting it alone. He was my history and coin collecting buddy for the past 28 years so its lost some of its zing. I think I need to find some new cellar holes this fall to get me back in the grove and finally get some time on the Explorer.
