Well Folks, it seems like a lifetime since I've been able to get out to detect or post on Tnet.
I've been keeping busy though enjoying my workshop and building birdhouses to sell this spring. I try to stay out of my wife's hair during the day. LOL.
My wife had business in the Raleigh area this last week, so I went back with her and was able to detect a few days at one of my old spots, and also get more barn wood for my wood projects. I've been detecting this property for over 7 years now, but the property is very large. Unfortunately, the woods were logged for the Pine trees in 2014 and it's very difficult to walk with the tall grass coving the dead branches underneath. Impossible to swing a detector.
I ended up detecting two areas of small pines that have been very productive in past years. With the snow, wet soil, and 23 degree weather, my Vaquero was picking up a lot of signals. A lot of rusty iron too. I was able to squeeze out some CW lead, three CW round balls (two fired), some 1800's buttons including one with some nice gold gilt and a "D.C.& Co. - Double Gilt" back mark, and another button cut into a 1/4 size piece. :icon_scratch: Closer to the yard area I dug a "Goodyear Hi-Way Patrol" bicycle head badge from the 1950's. Also some other brass and iron whats-its. ???

My best find though, and one that made detecting in the snow well worth it, was a 1851 Half Dime.
I believe that is my 4th oldest coin ever. It's actually older then Quindy of Tenn Trio fame. :tongue3:
Only 100 more to dig and I should be pretty close to Buckle Boy's total. :laughing7:

Although no banner finds were made it was fantastic to be out there in detecting and enjoying the outdoors.
Attached are photos of my finds, plus extra shots to give you an idea of the property I am able to enjoy.
Thanks for l@@king!

Sweet half dime!
I also love all those neat bird houses! :tongue3:

I know you worked hard for those relics and froze to boot. The HD is super. Your birdhouse are very unique. Dman is thinking about contracting you to build a large one for him to use as a vacation home-LOL. WTG, Q.

What a great looking place to hunt!! Drooling! Lol
Wonderful finds! Big congrats

Hey there you are MM!, been a while! That's a great half dime and those buttons are great too! You're pretty darn crafty w those birdhouses, can you make one big enough to fit olddude in when he out hunts me this spring?

great hunt, congrats!

Sweet find there ! Cool bird houses.

There you are old friend. Looks like a great hunt to me. Nice early coin and some cool old relics

Welcome back to the flock! That silver is quite the way to reintroduce yourself, lol. I echo everyone else's sentiments about your birdhouses~nice!

That's a beauty and on my 2015 list. Congrats and what great condition!

Nice looking half dime! Don't think the button was cut I've found several the same way. They are brittle and break like that. Like the bird house too. Me girlfriend has started collecting them, I need to start making them they get expensive. HH!

Great looking Half Dime.

Nice looking half dime and relics, congrats!

Nice snowman was he helping you dig? He sure likes the camera!

After this winter you will probably need to install heaters in those birdhouses, lucky birds!

Very cool finds, thanks for the scenery as well!

THANKS FOR THE REPLIES EVERYONE.
It was great to finally post something decent again. It amazes me how you can go over an area time and time again, and still seem to pull relics out of that spot. The wet soil really helped this time. We may be going back in a few weeks. I'll try to hit one of my other properties this time.
As far as the birdhouses, I love creating them. I'm fortunate enough to have access to the old barn wood.
Have a great weekend,
MM
