Well Folks, it seems like a lifetime since I've been able to get out to detect or post on Tnet.
I've been keeping busy though enjoying my workshop and building birdhouses to sell this spring. I try to stay out of my wife's hair during the day. LOL.
My wife had business in the Raleigh area this last week, so I went back with her and was able to detect a few days at one of my old spots, and also get more barn wood for my wood projects. I've been detecting this property for over 7 years now, but the property is very large. Unfortunately, the woods were logged for the Pine trees in 2014 and it's very difficult to walk with the tall grass coving the dead branches underneath. Impossible to swing a detector.
I ended up detecting two areas of small pines that have been very productive in past years. With the snow, wet soil, and 23 degree weather, my Vaquero was picking up a lot of signals. A lot of rusty iron too. I was able to squeeze out some CW lead, three CW round balls (two fired), some 1800's buttons including one with some nice gold gilt and a "D.C.& Co. - Double Gilt" back mark, and another button cut into a 1/4 size piece. :icon_scratch: Closer to the yard area I dug a "Goodyear Hi-Way Patrol" bicycle head badge from the 1950's. Also some other brass and iron whats-its. ???

My best find though, and one that made detecting in the snow well worth it, was a 1851 Half Dime.
I believe that is my 4th oldest coin ever. It's actually older then Quindy of Tenn Trio fame. :tongue3:
Only 100 more to dig and I should be pretty close to Buckle Boy's total. :laughing7:

Although no banner finds were made it was fantastic to be out there in detecting and enjoying the outdoors.
Attached are photos of my finds, plus extra shots to give you an idea of the property I am able to enjoy.
Thanks for l@@king!

Way to go on the 'silv' half dime! Did the snow keep you from swinging on the tree branches? :laughing7: You had a great hunt, and I'm sure it wasn't a cake walk with 23 degree weather and snow! Is that a shooter Benington marble with the wicked number?

:)
Breezie
Thumbs up on the snowman!

Yer the bomb, MM! What a great outing you had! And the snowman..ugh! Off the chain with creativeness....
Love the 1/2 dime and the flat buttons!
I want that house with the gun, horseshoe and bell. They're all super, but that one is awesome!
WTG!
Nana :occasion14:

Thanks Nana.
That's one of my favorite birdhouses too. There should be a lot more happy birds come spring.
You need to get out and do some snow detecting too. A lot safer with no snakes out. LOL.

LOL. Breezie, I tried swinging from the tree branches, but those Pine saplings just wouldn't hold me. Instead I laid on the ground and did snow angels. :laughing7:
Thanks for looking and get ready for more sleet tonight here in NC. Oh Boy!

That's a very nice half dime. Really appreciate all the photos of the area you are hunting. Wish more hunters would do that

Thanks Bass. This is a great property. Lots of acreage, hills, woods, streams, old buildings, cemetery, etc.
I need to get back to shooting some videos.
