Best picture of the week. It took a long time....

We had to wait long this year to have some fields harvested worth detecting. These finds come off a field near a roman site.
I met two farmers too, talking to them is important for a good relationship and always fun.

Coins and tokens including a roman srcappy and a 20 Pfennig silver you get rarely under the coil.

Westfront,

Glad to see the fields are finally opening up for you. Looks like you had a nice hunt for the day, I especially like the silver 20 pfennig coin - but then again, who doesn’t like silver.

I am sure you will soon be back to finding those great Roman coins and relics you have previously posted to the board.

Good luck with your hunts.

Walt

Hi Walt, it was more or less a random field between two roman sites. I hoped for some roman finds along the connection between these sites. Not much roman, but i like the 20 Pfennig. More ancient stuff will come soon!

that's a big field

No ****.

No talk no finds.

Score!!! Congrats!!!!

I bet that silver comes up about as much as a Roman one! Looks great.

Nothing like driving bye and seeing the harvester, or the round bales in the field.
Well done on the hunt, the silver is in fine shape.

Very nice variety of finds, and coins.

Nice bunch of finds! Cool photo. How do you decide where to start in such a vast, featureless field? Near the road corner?

In fact, it's way more rare than a roman silver when it comes to detecting. You get many of the 10 Pfennig Silver/Billon coins. Finding the good silver (.900) 20 Pfennig is every other year at best.

Laying between two roman sites there had to be a trackway, most likely in a straight line connecting the sites. Then you start in a zig zag pattern looking for pottery and other related finds. If you're not sucessful just swing the coil and have fun. Here is a roman coin in every field and a silver too. You just have to get the coil over it.

Excellent finds - congrats !

Ya know Lu, it's like mushroom hunting. One you see the first one, the others come easier. Nice score on the silver. Good luck.

Excellent hunt,, good luck with new permissions from those farmers

Yeah, not surprised.

Very nice Lu. I’m glad you’re finding some open spots and digging some signals. Nice silver pfennig
