Finally hit the 1700's

Went to an old farm property with a friend today and found a few odds and ends and my last find of the day was a large cent. I wasn't able to see the date until we got back to the vehicle and was able to wipe it off a little. Was pleasantly surprised to see that it was 1796! Got a couple flat buttons and a couple other things but definitely happy about breaking into the 1700's!

Very nice coin. I have yet to find one that old. Yet I can find a 12,000 year old arrowhead. I think they minted more arrowheads. Congratulations!!

Awesome find! Can't wait to get something in the 1700's. Congrats

Awesome find!!I would hit that place again and again and again.

Wow 1796 draped bust large cent. Now that's a good hunt. Congrats on your first.

Just a question how deep was that?

Nice Copper man!!! The search for the 1600's begins, find the old man,OLD. If I were back in school I'd be an A student in History, but, alas,I only went to School for a good time, but, I ain't stupid!! COOL!!! God Bless Chris

1600's is definitely possible here on the East coast, but certainly elusive!

Very nice 1796! I wouldn't clean it any further, looks like a lot of detail is in the patina.
