I have to admit I am just a little envious of the people in the east, beach and great war sites. Well maybe a lot...I just really enjoy coming to this site and seeing the great finds. I don't give my opinion but I do like to look...Okay my pot of gold. I have been digging at the place I was raised as some of you know and was hoping for coins and still looking but in the mean time I guess iron will have to do. So the good news is I found some iron yesterday that I did not clean them until today still have a lot of cleaning to do. The round piece turned out to be No 5 top plate. Then to my surprise the rectangle piece is a ash door with the number 80-18 and the detail was so great. Now to research the old cast iron stove and find out the brand and age. I found the objects 12 to 14 inches down. A little piece of history, a beginning to what I hope is more to come. New name Queen of Rust!

Then I will have to be an honorary follower...Maybe I could just be Oklahoma Rust Bucket

That hoe tells a great story and is a wonderful piece of history. Someone went through a lot of trouble to repair the blade. Must have been dirt poor people literally scratching to get by. That's exactly the stuff I love to find and would definitely have it up on my wall in my relic room. Very cool!

You're on the right track digging those high nonferrous iron signals!

Pretty soon you'll be pulling up silvers and coppers!

Best of luck to you Okie,
Dave

I love stuff like that! Sounds like a promising site! Good Luck!

I'd be willing to bet there are some good finds located there.

Agreed, even the dirt poor had buttons. That hoe is old and you could find buttons if not coins, and most did loose a copper coin or two.

By look of things your concentrating on the loudest signals, concentrate on the smaller, weaker, and deeper signals.

Make no mistake though there are iron targets well worth the digging, cast iron toys are tops. Guns, tools, and stove parts too, cleaned up and painted, as one poster did recently, look real cool.
