Finding great sites..........

How do you folks go about finding great sites for digging? Do you advertise or just ask people, "Hey, can I come dig on the proeprty?"

i live in the south and there are loads of old family homesites that are 100 years old that I would think are golden if given a chance. I need to look into asking folks if I can try and uncover the past! Nicely though and professionally.

Learn to use GIS on the web. It will give you info on the property, including the owner's name. One of the guys around here uses it, and has a good bit of luck calling and requesting permission, while letting them know that he has done his research on THEIR property.

Some people are better face to face, some people are better over the phone.
