Got out with the wife yesterday & her sister & husband & their kids.Took them to a nice beach kinda remote that I see sometimes when I'm out doing my boating. When we got there & got set up I slid off & done my thing as the norm for me (I can't keep from looking for things when I'm on the rivers here).:laughing7::skullflag: Anyway I walked on down the area we were at doing my looking found the large point first which got me looking good then.Next was the little quartz, then I started to notice how the ground was changing & becoming mixed with what looked like chunks of fossilized mud.I got to looking through this area & found the tooth followed by the cool fossilized crab if it hadn't been turned belly up though I likely would had never seen it.Well that's the scoop & here's the finds...............
Take Care,
Pete,:hello:

Thanks everyone, yea I'll be checking in on this site some more as I did not feel like I got over it that well. And like other sites I hunt it will be washing out & changing all along.
Take care,

so....how come I don't see shark teeth projectile points from Florida or wherever...if I could just pick up razor sharp saw bladed teeth I would sure as the north wind be using them....

I was thinking the same thing looking at that tooth....but who knows maybe N.A.'s did use them as projectile points as-is? Btw the tooth looks like it's from a juvenile Carcharadon Megalodon or ancient Great White imo. Nice finds!

Hey there guys, maybe I can answer somethings for you here. First I'm in n.c. on the coast 1 mile from the ocean. Next there is a vein of marine life that is 20 million years old that runs north & south through the coastal plain. P c s phosphate mines this layer for phosphate. Some areas here on the rivers & even on land in a couple places this layer of material has come or pushed close to the surface so that these fossilized marine life can be found. In answer to your question about the indians not sure if it was exposed for them to find. Even if it was they would not just be able to run around picking up large teeth as you got to look pretty good just to find one. So in short the amount of teeth would limit there abilty to use them at any amount.
Maybe this helps you understand about it here.
Take care
Pete

Forgot to answer your question. It would be a large great white tooth from at least 20million years ago.But we do find the megs here to.Just would not have been enough exposed back then for them to use.As places even now & days with all the land that is cleared farmed developed very few small spots to find this type of fossilized stuff here.

but what about teeth teeth...don't yous guys find teeth too (not fossils)

Sometimes but not very common.Put it this way you would be more likely to find a fossil tooth then a recent shark tooth.

Sweet finds. I would of missed that crab I was thinking it was a rock till you told us what it was. You have a good eye sir.
