IS this a fired musketball or a more modern shotgun slug?

trk5capt, I have a few minies that look just like that, but I have been given a couple different explanations for that 'wormed' looked. One person told me that a worming tool was used to pull it out of the barrel. I have seen a few pulled bullets, but they have holes in the tips. Is a worm tool different? Another explanation I was given is that it takes a great deal of force to drive a minie into the barrel after it has been fired a few times due to swelling from heat. Having to ram the bullet down with the ramrod to seat it causes the wierd looking tip on the bullet. Reason I ask is I find a lot of fired bullets in the same area I find these wormed looking ones.

I have found many of those things in the beach..... they are aluminum.... Is it light weight?...... if it is, then is aluminum......musket ball were made of lead...

Best,

Chagy.....
