Picked up 2 boxes of halves yesterday and found a lone '67. This morning I went to a bank that will sell me any and all bags off their machine. Teller called earlier in the week and said the halves bag had filled up. As the teller is sliding the bag across the counter my 11 year old grabs it. As we're walking out he whispers 'Daddy, one has a super thin rim. I think it's a Walker'. When we get to the truck he shakes the bag around a bit and then we see the stars on the obverse of a Barber. Ends up being a 1908-O Barber in G, well worn but no damage. Bag also had 2x64-D and 6x40%ers. Grabbed a skunk quarter bag (my first skunk quarter bag from here), a dime bag with 3 silver Rosie's, a nickel bag with 3 War nick's and a beat '39-S and a penny bag with 9 stinkin' wheaties. The last penny bag only had 11 wheaties.

It's our first Barber half, and took just under 600,000 halves to find it but we did find a holed, bent, beat Barber dime a few months ago in the reject chute from the machine I'm now getting bags off of. I've also found 7 V nickels including one last weekend.

Don't ya just love hearing stories like these? I sure do. Never give up!!

That's an amazing find! I've been metal detecting for 4 years and never dug up a Barber half. Who in their right mind would cash in a 109 year old coin for face value, regardless of condition? A fool and their money are soon parted, I guess.

Congratulations, Twitch. But you have been here long enough to know there are standards to be upheld. It has taken you so long so you know it is a special club to join. As members, we expect a hair-cutting reference in the thread title. Looking forward to you joining the Seated club next.

Nice find! They are tough. 800,000+ halves searched here, and only 1 Barber for me too.
