Hello folks! :headbang:

It's been a while since I've posted any finds on the forum. Been finding occasionally some nice coins usually during the weekends at the fort or nearby parks. Last month, I noticed some demolition going on at a local textile mill that's been around for a little over 100 years according to the town papers. They're tearing it down getting ready to build other new buildings on the property :crybaby2:

A buddy of mine, PossumHead Ed and I have obtained permission to hunt the grounds outside the gated mill and the last three occasions, Ed and I have been finding a few nice keepers  Ed got me into night detecting while we've both been hunting this mill off and on.

Anyway, last night, Ed wasn't able to make it so I had the field to myself. It started getting dark so I switched on my Walmart $10 dollar night light that fits under the brim of my baseball cap. (A must have for those who like to hunt at night) :headbang: Soon afterwards, I dug a nice dime signal at 6" deep. Cut a clean plug and out pops a 1918D merc in very bad shape. Man, this coin has been battered to death :o Now I know what Nana means to try and clean dirty crusty coin's :D :P Terrible looking merc, but I'll still take it :D A while later, I got another dime signal reading 81 on my XLT E Series at 4" deep. Out pops another silver coin, but this time it's my first Barber for the year :hello2: Only my second New Orleans mint in over five years of detecting :smileinbox: :occasion18: Dug a few wheat's and clad and finally called it a night.

Thanks for looking ya'll and HH :hello:

James

Man, that Barber dime is a knockout! Awesome find!

Steve

The Merc is nice, it's silver, but the Barber is totally mint like, it looks like it still has some mint luster. Beautiful!

and she's a beaut!

Beautiful! That Merc looks like it spent some time in a parking lot, but that Barber is exquisite!

That Barber has great detail. I'm in agreement that it is Probably EF 40-45 grade. $100 coin!WTG. Todd
