I posted this yesterday on "Today's Finds" but I never know if people on here missed it or not. I went back to my old elementary school where I found the 16 silver quarter cache, a week later a silver dime 1956, a week later my buddy found a 1942 washington and yesterday I went out for a 5 hour hunt. My reward: 1950 Canadian half dollar! 80% silver. I could not believe my luck. Earlier that day I was thinking about how I might never find a half dollar in the ground. Well, it comes when you least expect it. Got a bouncy, loud signal out by the baseball field on a sloped piece of ground. Sometimes I get iffy signals on hills and never find the source. Glad I looked into this one. The Mexican? coin was right on top of the half and the 1950 nickel was in the same hole but maybe an inch above. Made my day. It's been a big year for me this year as I have now found 18 silver coins, 2 silver rings, and lot of other fun relics. Had a lot of fun doing it too. Guess I will turn this into a best of 2012 post while I am at it. Enjoy the pics! HH!! :metaldetector: = :treasurechest:

Good Morning toorude89,
You've had yourself quite a nice year, congratulations on all the great finds. I expect that winter is about to or has shut you down for 2012 but it only lasts for a few months and you can be back at it again. Seems like wherever you are searching that not many others are and that is a blessing.

I do not mean to be picky but looking at the Canadian half dollar, its condition 'looks like' it was polished if so you might want to find another method of cleaning your coins, if you want to that is. Once coins have been scratched by polishing their numismatic value drops considerably. Just a thought to share with you as it would be a shame to polish a coin that was worth say $800 if it had been left alone and it is now worth only the value of the metal in the coin.

Have a wonderful Christmas and a great new year detecting.........63bkpkr

I only rinsed it off with water. I did rub it by mistake when I dug it up but I did not try to clean it. Thanks for commenting.

Now that is the kind of hunts you can truely enjoy. Be nice to have one of them. Awsome hunt HH and many more like that one....

Finding that half dollar has catapulted me into purchasing an AT Pro. All these found with Ace 250.
