Well I have been browsing this site for a while mostly for the metal detecting part. I finally saved up enough to order my first one the other day (ace 250) should get it this week. But I have had some time to kill and noticed this section and then remembered the glass bottles in the woods behind my house that I was going to clean out a few years back but never got around to it. They have been there since my family moved here in 1985. So this afternoon I got a couple of buckets and went searching. Found quite a few, I was actually surprised at how many of them were not broken. Well as you can see they need some cleaning, but I just wanted to post the pic. There are some that interest me and I will post individual pics of them later on, within the next few days. Found quite a few Yellowstone bottles and what appear to be baby food jars. If any one wants to comment on them or see a picture of one better let me know. The back half of the table is full of the broken pieces, trying to clean up the area too. Have to find something to do with them, don't want to waste too much time cleaning them up for the recycling place when I don't even know if they will use them.
Don't know of they will be worth anything...guess I will have to do some researching for that

Nice bottles from the 50's if you digg a little deeper will hit the older stuff look for the soda bottle ;D!!!

Yes, 1950's and maybe even 1960's. The one in the front is a vinegar bottle - I have one very similar in my cupboard right now!! That one with the painted label (left side of photo) might be a keeper - need a better picture of it.

As John said, dig deeper. Use a rake and get down deeper where the older stuff should be. Look for bottles that had corks rather than screw lids. Also look for little objects like tokens, marbles, coins, etc. The recycler should take the ones you've shown here - but you may need to wash them off first. And good for you to clean up all the broken pieces!!! Nice work.
