Detector(s) used
Fisher F2
So this is my very first time using TreasureNet, so forgive me if I suck at doing whatever it is I think I am supposed to be doing. I have really only started detecting this summer and love the hobby. Today my brother and I went detecting at an old campground. We were not there too long at all before I pulled out a 1919 Buffalo Nickel. No mint mark. It was about 2 inches deep.. I was using a Fisher F2. I was pumped because I havent found too many older coins to speak of. The problem is, I can't seem to take a picture of it without a glare, blurring, yadda yadda. Any tips??

Most cameras have a 'macro setting'. You must see if your camera has one. It is sometimes represented by a little flower icon in the menu settings. If your camera does INDEED have this function...use it. The only way to go for close-up's as that's what it's specifically designed for. If your camera does NOT have a macro option or the one it has sucks, the next best thing would be to just take a regular magnifying glass and hold it in front of the lens while taking the picture. You might have to play around with it a few times to get it perfect, but, works like a charm. Everything I posted also works on video cameras too

BTW, congrats on the buffalo :headbang:

Joe, thank you for taking the time to respond!! I will see what I can figure out after dinner! I hope this evening is treating you well! ~Kristin~

Yes, it is Kristen. Raining like a typhoon here in NJ, but, good time to catch up on the computer stuff :icon_sunny: See you're a stylist. If it's hair, one of my best friends just got a job in NYC with a top salon. Crazy business. Some of the stuff she tells me about the celebs that come in are a hoot :laughing7: :laughing9:

Welcome to the addiction & happy hunting :blob8:

Well, good for your friend!! I'd love to work in a top salon, but ALAS!! I live in a tiny town with way too many stylists. Seeing as how I dont want to move, I am stuck working at a hotel to make ends meet. Sorry to hear about all your rain.. we had frost here this morning... brrrrr!

Congrats on the buffalo. Patience and location is the key.

Just so you know there is also a section you can post your finds for michigan too. It is near the bottom of the main forum and is listed by state. If you are in southern MI there are several clubs available to meet an greet other detectorists if interested.

Thanks guys!! It is indeed a great hobby. I put it right up there with fishing :D

Well, you have started with a good detector! The F2 is excellent. Fisher is a good brand! Dig all of those nickle and pulltab signals, and you might just find some gold! Good luck in your hunts! :icon_thumright:
