Not my first button since the first one I found I tossed in the water not thinking it could be old.
This one looked like a reg round button till I started taking dirt off and found a eagle on it.
Anyone know a possible date ?

Nice find creattionz.

Wow that old huh thanks for the info.
I was thinking the oldest thing I found today was a 1949 wheat.

I was gonna write this spot off of my
Search again spots but I'll def be heading back now

Hyd peroxide in a glass half inch deep. Heat up in microwave for 30 seconds then drop in the button.
Or gentle soft brush under the tap.
Nice gs eagle button. Worn by union troops during the civil war.

If you clean this eagle button it will turn red. I would suggest that you just use a tooth pick to knock of some of the heavy dirt. Most of these buttons fall apart these days. Nice CW period button.

I would agree with toothpicking the high points of the design to remove the dirt there and leave the dirt on the background for contrast. NO WATER. If you use water and a toothbrush, or peroxide, you'll end up with a red blob that won't display well at all. (the eagle will not stick out at all)

Nice Civil War Eagle Button!

If you leave it in peroxide too long it will go red. Time it right and u get the contrast that I prefer.
All good advice from BB tho
