Was hitting a permission last night and got a decent high ping with no VDI on the AT Pro, but was intrigued to dig it anyway. Usually it's iron or a nail. This was about 4 inches deep and on edge. It's missing the tongue, but has the rest. Still pivots too. Anyone have any information on this? I figure it's a colonial shoe buckle. Any way to date it? image.webp

Wow, and a nice one! Great find!

1720-1790s - Nice Shoe Buckle!

You may need to conserve the iron guts.

Nice one too...rare to find the iron intact!

Be careful flexing it. I thought mine was flexing, turns out I was torquing a rusted shaft and it broke.

Very nice buckle..
