I picked up the 7 inch plate at an estate sale. Most of the pieces were reproductions but I saw this one and thought it might be the real deal. It is a beautiful eagle with the initials SD. I was thinking it might be Samual Danforth but I can't find anything to match this Hallmark. Any of you Pewter experts know what I have here? I can't help beyond saying that it would actually be post Colonial if the U.S. Eagle was used. It says here on the Pewter Society page that they will help identify marks, providing the sole purpose of the id is not to facilitate sale of the piece: The Pewter Society - Pewterers? marks
