Well this metal detecting season started off rough for me. We spent most of the fall in a drought waiting for rain, then in late October I had a 2 heart attacks. Long story made short, my buddy and I finally made it out to the old pre-civil war fort (1830's -1860's) over in Oklahoma to kick of a new season of digging. We didn't really have a good plan we just started hunting random spots to see if anything turned up. We didn't find a lot (we never do) but thankfully we didn't leave empty handed. He found a cuff button with a spread eagle on it and I found this rosette in a bed of nails. Needless to say I wore myself out digging al of the bent square nails around it after that.

Ever seen one like this? The back is hollow and had 3 prongs, 1 is now missing.
