Well guys it's been a while since I found anything but between the leaves and the rain among other things my creek time has been real limited. Since the creek is flowing real good I can't really see in it unless I rake the pebble bars or get lucky and something gets stuck on top of the banks and today I found a small shard and maybe a flake but it's debatable on the so called flake lol. I did get a bit of a surprise when a juvenile water snake floated downstream between my legs and glad I had on my boots, sadly I didn't have my phone ready or that would have been a good pic :laughing7:

Here are some pics of the creek but not where I found the shard. There's a bit of a story in the first one. Between the 2 trees on the right is a "ditch" I walk down to get to the creek. When I hit the bottom the mud was slick as glass and it took mad skills with the help of the rake to keep from landing on my butt! It's been a while since I've been down that way and apparently I had forgotten about that little spot right there geez!:o

The rocks that are fresh out of the banks or bottoms aren't creek stained and do catch the eye. There's quite a bit of smoky quartz and I've found white quartz with tiny garnets in it. Occasionally there are pink/rose quartz and some green stones. The green and turquoise is not seen often. I always bring back these type stones and put them in my herb beds if they are large but if small I have a bowl for them to display. I find nice cobbles too.

Dang leaves :0 ! At least you were able to get out. Been raining here quite often on my days off like today and tomorrow. So I get to clean the carpets instead of going out.

Oh I know exactly what you mean! and I've been filling in for my son on our second job which is cleaning some office spaces, he does M-Thurs evening and I help with the big cleaning on the weekend but this week it's been both for me. He's in Denver visiting some friends and thank goodness will be back tomorrow evening! I'm about worn out from it. It's really been an eyeopener on how grown office people are potty challenged and disgusting too! Some are there after hours and it's been very difficult to not make smart ass comments to them :angry4:

It was good that you were able to get punt and find something.

Yes it was real good to get out even if it was just for a short time and a bonus to find a little something. People around here think the snakes go underground when it's October but they have no idea. Last Sunday my son and I were further upstream and he stepped right next to what could have been the Momma to the baby I saw today and we're real glad there aren't cottonmouths this far west.

Hey peaches if you want to see through the current here is a tip. Its cheaper if you get a square base plastic trash can that is lite in weight. Cut the base off with a saw.Measure the base so you know how big of a piece you will need. Go to your close hardware store and ask if they cut plexxie glass. If they do it should be in stock. Sometimes they will have a scrap piece so its cheaper. Take the glass and affix it to the bottom of the can with glue. I use Gorilla glue. Its strong but will bubble if you put to much on so go easy with it. Seal all sides and let it dry. After its dry take it to the creek. When you submerge it in the water if it is flat it will remove the air bubbles and you then can see clear underwater without getting wet. If you have deep holes in your creek get a tall kitchen type can and its easier on your back to. Dont get anything heavy a plastic can is best.
