This is a nice machine but it is a little different than any other I have used in the past. I am going to have to keep some notes on me a so I can reference numerical ID numbers. I found my first seated liberty quarter today. It is so worn I could barely make out any detail at all, much less a date. But it is still a seated liberty quarter!! Found 62 cents in clad. I noticed silver does not register the same as clad as far as the denomination of the coin goes. The seated quarter came in at 39. Out of the ground it was 36. Maybe it is because it was so worn. I like the pinpoint location on the screen. It works great. Will see what happens next time!! Happy hunting fellas!

Must have something to do with your ground minerals. All the quarters I have found here on the Texas Gulf Coast, whether they are clad or silver always come in at 42, have never found one reading different, I also use the XT50, love that machine. I wonder if the old quarter you found was just to thin to register any higher. HH John

The different readings have nothing to do with the detail of the coin or thickness. Just it's conductivity and surface area as it is possitioned in the ground, IE, on edge.

Nice find.........

Hey Texas Digger, What part of Texas do you live in? I am from Hockley originally, all of my family is still out there. Hockley is outside Houston off of 290 about 20 minutes or so.
I ordered the 7.5 mhz 10.5"DD coil this weekend too. I hope it is as good as they say it is. Happy hunting fellows!

Tim's out there hunting without me! Tsk Tsk Tsk

Anyways congrats on the new machine and the finds!

Shoot me a PM!

Mike
