Well, did the mods (see tech forum). Had to give her a shot. I went out the back door and started scanning. Hit a solid hit, turned up the discriminator and got a stagger sound. Dug it up and found a highly smashed crumpled aluminum can about 3" down.

Moved on down towards the drive(at work), got a nice clean beep--dug down into the mud(sticky mud!!) and found a clad quarter. At least I know it will find coins! Started scanning back up the hill and kept getting a really faint but persistent hit in a line. After 3 or 4 hits I looked and it's the water line for the fire suppression system. That is buried at least 4' down! Of course there is a warning wire above it, but that is seldom more than a foot above the pipe. I am really surprised I could pick that up.

Hey Jeff, I know (or at least it seams) my whites XLT is good for lincolns. LOTS AND LOTS OF LINCOLNS!!! Aside from the errant quarter and aluminum can or bottlecap. Dont worry though, it will get better. Two things are for sure though, if your finding something its better than nothing, and if your finding nothing eventually you will find something!

With the weather warming up you will really get the fever for MDing! Im going out tomorrow since they called off the rain and say it will be a balmy 50 degrees with really saturated soil from melting snow!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!!

Nothing like a good mud pit, a public accessable area and a metal detector! Well, maybe thats not true. An unsearched backwoods plantation house from the 1800's would be nice.

Hey! I can dream cant I?!?!?!

By the way, I would leave the wire above the sprinkler feed alone. They might need it someday heh heh!

Congrats on your first finds, more great items are on your way. Join the club, we all pay our dues everyday we go hunting. We all dig trash and we all dig clad coins. The clad coins pay for the batteries we need for our detectors. Picking up the trash, means you don't have to detect that item the next time.

HH and remember to keep the coil to the soil, Ringfinder

Congrats on your first quarter
