First find

I went out and bought the Pioneer 505 from Wal-Mart today. I just wanted to get a feel for MDing. Will probably take it back and get a Prizm in the next couple of weeks. I just ventured out the door long enough to test it. Found a 1979 penny and a 1956D wheat penny. In about a half hour, I'm sure it will get better as I become experienced. It was dirty but fun. I guess I'm gonna have to invest in a decent camera to post my finds.

Wally,

You're going to have lots of fun with whatever detector you get. My first find was a square nail in my yard and I was excited about that. As you get used to it you will get better and there are many good people here that will help you along the way. Eventually you will start venturing out from your front yard and get into playgrounds or parks or schools. Don't forget to check the library for older maps of your area and find out where houses or roads that were in the past but are no longer there now.
