Finally bought a metal detector today!!! Technetics Delta 4000.
So.... We dug a hot wheels car about 4 inch down dated 1998. 1 quarter dated 1987. 1 quarter dated 1979. 1 penny 1982. A silver like material, unsure what it is??? Fun 2 hours with the kids. They were ecstatic! I didn't want to stop. Unsure who had more fun me or the kids.

WOW! How neat is THAT!!! Not only did you dig up a vintage hot wheels, but with the kid still attached!!! LOL

BOY! They don't turn loose for nothing! :)

In seriousness, you have started down a path that you and your family are gonna create memories for a lifetime. Show them how you research for a place that has old stuff and when you guys start finding things from there, they will be hooked. But NOT just on detecting. They will become history buffs and will learn study skills that will help them for their lifetime.

Congrats and welcome on board!

HH!

Great looking kid! Where'd you find him? How deep was he? What did he ring up on the detector? :laughing9: Just kidding....

Welcome to the wonderful world of dirt fishing! There are some really great folks here on TN, so don't be afraid to ask questions if you have any. Best advice I have? Just get out there and swing that coil....low and slow....and enjoy yourself. You never know what you'll find!

That's Great! Way To Go! Getting the kids into this is Awesome! I got two that are hooked and they think everything we dig we should keep and display! Even the trash is cool relics to them. :laughing7:

Man, that is awsome..I wish that I could find one of the dealers/sponsors to donate a couple off small machines to the cause..I detect in some not -so-good areas of town. i do this with the intention of getting the seed planted in some of these children that are truely intrested and excited about what I am finding and how the machine works. Many of which are very smart. If I had one more or maybe two other detectors, I think I could start a small club for these kids. I would love to instill a little manners and disipline as well as respect in these young folks, before the "HOOD-RATS" get a good hold onto them. I am retired and spend most of my days digging, swinging, hunting, researching,.........you get the idea. Hit me back if ya got any machines ya want to loan or donate for the cause.
