I was going to wait a couple weeks before going back to the hill, but I had a free 45 minutes. So what the heck.

In the second to last photo, the brown one in the middle, there must be at least 30 of those. Brought 3 home.

And the blue one is a Vicks bottle, it has the raised letters on the bottom, reminds me of my grandmother, she swore by Vicks to cure everything!!!

And thanks for all the comments on the other thread. And thanks for looking. (This is addicting)

hws, you've been infected... The only remedy now is to feed the infection. I see some milk bottles and acl (applied color label) sodas, a oerfume, and more common pieces from the same time period. ...however, there is always a market for milk bottles and acl sodas(if the labels are in good shape). So this is an improvement over the last batch... Did you dig any testholes?

Thanks and yes I'm hooked. Problem now is I really have no time for a couple weeks LOL

I dug two holes on the perimeter and there was nothing past 8" or so. But where most if the items are it seems like it is piled up, and the buried with dirt and rocks. There is a lot to go through. I need a solid 4-6 hours

Thanks for the info.

Congrats on the ACl sodas let them dry out for a while before cleaning them that way you won't lose your labels. And becarful the only way to cure the infection is more digging side effects are cut up and blistered fingers, dirt in places you don't want and constantly looking at the ground lol.

Doing good there-- from cosmetics to condiments to milk and soda! Not bad for a quicky-- and when you have time, it'll be waiting for you...calling to you "Dig me! Dig me!" in your dreams, haunting your every waking moment... (!) 8-) It's bad, you know. Yakker

One thing I'm not sure of, what to do with all the glass? I will keep the ones I like and give away some to my sister (artist and flower shop owner in Philly). But what about all the others? Like I said earlier there must be at least 30 of those large brown bottles and there was at least a dozen small jars, like baby food size.

Look around for a glass recycle bin. They are popping up all over.

Dig deeper, keep everything, post here, then trash what people tell you trash.
People love the milk and sodas, and what might be common in the pit you are digging might be rare everywhere else.
Like I mentioned, you can always through the bad stuff away for the second time.

The collecting and self-editing process can go on for years and years (meaning you take a lot home, figure out what's what, toss some, gather more, repeat. I recycle a lot of glass. Some I just try to segregate on the site. I figure, someone down the road - maybe a looong time from now- would be pleased to find any glass at all! The places I find are overwhelming in the amount of relatively recent glass, and I have to really look hard for the good stuff. Around here, they plowed the dumps- causing everything to 'smear' across the land, so there's not much depth to get to. (the water table is pretty shallow here as well, which doesn't help). Try bringing along a hand-claw and leather gloves (if you haven't yet). Those will help you safely recover what interests you. Do you live in dairy country? Those brown bottles are often bleach- or a disinfecting chemical of some sort, I think- often related to dairy hygiene. Just a thought... HH! Yakker
