Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
We recently moved from San Diego to Manassas, Va and I picked up a metal detector (Whites 6000) at the suggestion of one of my friends who lives here.

My wife and I have gone out a couple of times but it’s difficult to find places to go with permission. In this case we went where our new house is being built and came up with these two items near each other on a hill. Another guy out there had found a flat button and a couple of confederate bullets nearby.

Anyone know anything about these? Civil war? Colonial? One is clearly a button and the other appears to be a decorative clasp or some sort. Any help would greatly be appreciated!

Don't know but you will be hooked before you know it. Great first finds.

Welcome! First item on left looks like part of a suspender clasp. Cool finds. :occasion14:

Sadly I can't help identify, but a 6000 White's machine can sniff stuff out very well I know. You should hopefully be able to find areas in Manassas Va to search for stuff.

Thanks!

A suspender clasp! I can’t believe I didn’t think of that! I’ve stared at that thing for days and just couldn’t put my finger on the design but that makes total sense. If only I could date it somehow...

Welcome and congrats on those finds. The whites 6000 was my old man's favorite machine....even over his DFX.
