It's just been too long since a day with nice weather, ground that's not muddy or rock hard, and a first find has come my way.

Old house site in a small park gave these up.

I'll be back for beeping and a extra junk bag - someone else has been detecting there and either left the trash on top, or in the case of soda cans, left them under the plug.

Skunk cabbage coming up in the swampy areas - spring is on its way!

Nice!!!! Congrats!!!!

nice one, love digging FOBs

Nice display pieces. It's too bad about the diggers that don't clean up. I put a plastic grocery bag on my belt loop for the junk. Easy.

Very nice thanks for sharing

Normally the same type of idiots that leave their holes open!

That is a beautiful watch fob molewhacker. I imagine you would have to be pretty fast at typing to get that pin!!!

Very interesting finds MW.
Is the pin marked 'STERLING', it would be nice to see a pic of the back.
I found this info online...

"Typewriter Expert Typist Pin
This pin has a five-pointed star with 16 or so stars around the border, this could be brass or gold or copper.
Back states: Pat. Mar.23, 1926 and Made in USA AWARDED BY LC SMITH AND CORONA TWRS INC."

People who aren't willing to remove their trash from the parks, definitely give our hobby a black eye. :sadsmiley:
Dave

Great finds !

That's not just a fob, that's a "GREAT" fob!! Good deal on the clean up! Because of a couple of slobs in the late 70's/early 80's there's several places here that are still off limits???

Congrats on those two finds! I would have been very happy with either one of them. Regarding the clean up ahead of you, Thank You for doing that! I run into it on occasion here too, and it always makes me very disappointed. I mean, how much trouble is it to carry a pouch and remove the trash ya just dug?

Nice pair of finds. I like that Fob.

Thank you for the info on this award - my typing speed in HS would not have come close to what Smith- Corona needed for this pin

Yippie! Couldn't figure out the I D letters flanking the center of this Pythias Fob - googling I and D Pythian is not the best search I found.

Anyway these letters are for the Insurance Department of the Pythian organization -

In 1877, the order adopted an optional rank, called the Endowment Rank, which provided fraternal insurance benefits. In 1930, this department split from the Knights of Pythias and became a mutual life insurance company, later known as the American United Insurance Company.

Nice finds Mole!!!!!!!!
