Cold, windy, a bit of rain and even some snow flurries here in Las Vegas today, but I braved the cold to run up to a small park that I've pulled lots of clad out over the past year. The sun was starting to go down behind the mountains and I was walking back toward the truck when the detector gave off a strong silver signal that looked like it might have been mixed with some foil. Bent down and dug my plug and about 4 inches down a nice sterling silver ring is staring back at me. Unfortunately 2 of the stones in the main setting are missing. After putting the plug back in I ran my detector over the area again and got a reading around 10 that wasn't jumping up to 24 or so and back down again. Hmmmm...might be interesting. Dig down about 2 inches away from where the ring was and there was the ring in the middle--a 14K gold child's ring (I can't even slip it over the tip of my pinky finger) with a palm tree and GUAM on it. Replace the plug and swept some more...about a foot away another signal that's jumping between 10 and 14. Digging down this time I found the 14K bracelet and another 14K child's ring with the letter T on it.
It's taken almost a year to find my first gold and I must say the heart does beat a bit faster when you see that nice shiny metal gleaming back at you.
