First Gold Coin of 2009!!!

We only had 2.5 hours as its Mothers Day, & we were heading for one of our worst hunts. No scrappies & I was happy to get the 1935 Sixpence.

To put this in context I have a picture of the area we covered in several hunts to get it. We were tempted to break the system but gritted our teeth & continued. Gald we did because this little beauty popped out:

1800 George III 1/3 Guinea.

2005 Book price - VF-£120 EF-£300. Mine is nearly EF with small scratches, if your going to find one you may as well get an unworn one 8)

I pictured it with a Fake one I found 2 years ago, up until then I had never seen one or heard of one, except in the book when researching.

Just to add this was our last chance on the field as the beans are chitting.

Also I will give the farmer that Rare Celtic Silver Coin I found last week, as this Gold Coin is a similar value.

There were a few whahoo's after I realised its wasn't a piece of gold coloured foil. I had just dug several bits of silver foil.

We were really itching to go up to the top right corner which we haven't covered very well. This last area we have covered a few times as it had the most roman coins & 2 Roman Silver. We have yet to have a deep plough on this field since we started it a few years ago. So won't try again until that happens.

Its our 10th Gold Coin but most of them have been in the last few years. I have detected over 20 years & this is my 6th. Dad over 10 years & he has 4. (remebering of course I keep all his stuff )

I was wondering if this year would spoil our streak of a gold coin finds year on year, now the pressures off

Indeed. Although I should have made it clearer that the starting position was 3 or so weeks ago. We did about 6 or more hunts of varying hours to get it. Moral of the story, never give up until the area is complete.
