OK guys, I've heard of much larger finds, but this one is my top find to date with half dollars.
One of my tellers calls me up and says he just hada guy come in and drop off $54 in halves. I decide to make a little road trip. I go to 5 banks, going to the bank that called me last. I got a total of $310 worth. I actually waited to open the 5 customer rolls last, all the other rolls were actually brinks rolls. I have some strange thing with opening oddly wrapped rolls last, kind of save the best for last thing I guess... Well, this time it worked. 42 silvers!! I couldn't beleive it, the very first coin I looked at was a 1964, my good ole pal Kennedy, and he braught a bunch of freinds to the party with him.
count by year:
69: 7
68: 12
67: 14
66: 3
65: 4
64: 2
Kind of a shame there weren't more 90%, but I definately can't complain. Great start to the year. After having some doubts I'm definately a beleiver in stashes now!

Re: first hoard!

I will try to post pics this weekend, can't wait to show you.

Re: first hoard!

Nice!! I like unrolling the odd looking ones last as well. My wife doesn't. If it looks old, that's the first one she'll grab.

Re: first hoard!

Nice! I hate unwrapping the ones with "1973" on the wrapper.

Re: first hoard!

Sweet silver stash. Congrats on your finds.

Ok, here's some random pics of the 42 silvers I got the other day. Also pics of the error coins I found a few days ago, both are from 1971 . The one has a bubbled rim, close to the "Y" in liberty. It doesn't look like a ding in the coin, let me know what you think if it's an error or not. The other one is the coin that seems to be all copper. I'm guessing it was tampered with, dipped in something maybe?? It really looks like a half dollar that turned out with a penny-like finish. Again, let me know if this might be an error, cause I really have no idea. If they are errors, what would they be worth?

Both of your "error" coins are post mint damage. The first one is a half dollar dug up by a metal detector. After being buried for a while they turn that color. The other you can see a ding on the reeding of the rim.

I agree with you, the one may be dug up by a metal detector. The picture of the other coin doesn't do it much justice.. I have seen tons of dings in coins, it is a blob of metal on the rim, I'm almost certain it's an error.

Could be, better pic would help.
