Went out with a buddy yesterday to a spot we hunted really hard in the past. We think it was a tavern site originally. Found a nice shoe buckle a barber dime that's pretty toasted and a silver piece that I'm going to post in the "What is it" section. I think its a cane topper or something? But its real light.

Great finds! Thanks for sharing...

Walking stick/cane top is a high-likelihood guess. Only other possibility is some sort of utensil, like a wax stamp, meaning the stamp end might still be out there. 1w.webp

Yeah i think it is a cane topper. Maybe it was filled with sand or something similar since the silver is so thin. I think they did that with silverware as well.

Many of the thinner silver items from that period (later Victorian/Edwardian ) were filled with a mix of plaster and beeswax - the handles on
vanity set mirrors - the bases for candy compotes ,that sort of thing . Nice finds .
